Mustafa Barghouti, one of the
candidates in the in Palestinian presidential elections of January, 2006, will
be visiting Malta in the coming days. He will address a public meeting organised
by the Euro-Med Movement and he will also participate in a seminar about

extends its sympathy to Jordan and its people
We at the Euro-Med Movement extend our profound condolences
to the families who are grieving today for the innocent victims killed in the
terrorist attacks that targeted Amman, Jordan on Wednesday. Fifty-nine people
have died and over a hundred were injured in the attacks that took place in
three hotels in Amman. Some are in critical
condition.

EMM Welcomes Turkey to the Negotiating Table
The
The Euro-Med Movement welcomes Turkey's place at the negotiating table
for accession to the European Union. Euro-Med Movement chairman Michael Zammit
Tabona and coordinator Joe Mifsud congratulated UK Foreign Secretary Jack Straw
for overcoming last-minute objections from Austria. The opening of negotiations
underlines the fact that the European Union is a political project for economic
and social co-operation, for democracy, peace and fundamental rights.

Resolving
the Peace Process in the Middle East
The Euro-Med Movement commends the Israeli Government's initiative to disengage
from selected Gaza settlements, following 38 years of occupation and conflict.
Similar action should be taken to retreat from other areas particularly in the
West Bank that are still occupied. In the meantime, the Movement deplores the
killing of innocent citizens subject to violent confrontation which dents the
road map for peace between both nations.
The Euro-Med Movement further expresses its satisfaction that Palestinian
President Abu Mazen called for Parliamentary elections scheduled next
January.

The Euro-Med Movement is once again condemning further acts of terrorism that
are haunting our societies. Following the deadly attacks in London, Ankara and
Netanya over the past few days, Egypt has now been targeted, claiming at least
the lives of 88 innocent people.

Movement strongly condemns the suicide attack in Netanya, (Israel), that took at
least two lives and wounded many others. Acts of violence in the region should
be avoided not to prejudice and dent the peaceful truce agreed between Israel
and the Palestinian Authority.
